The XXVII Biennial Symposium on Measuring Techniques in Turbomachinery took place in Larnaca on April 29th and 30th, 2024, with the valuable support of CMMI. This two-day event brought together researchers from universities, research institutes, and the industry to exchange knowledge, discuss challenges, and share experiences related to measurement techniques in turbomachinery—a crucial aspect in the advancement of energy-efficient technologies. During the symposium, CMMI presented the GreenMED initiative, highlighting its current activities, recent developments, and ambitious goals for the future. The presentation emphasized GreenMED’s efforts to decarbonize the maritime sector and showcased the role of the Mediterranean Sustainable Shipping Observatory (MSSO) as a key tool in driving sustainable shipping practices across the Mediterranean region. Following the presentation, a lively and fruitful discussion ensued between symposium participants and CMMI’s representatives. Attendees explored the potential synergies between turbomachinery measurement advancements and the decarbonization goals of GreenMED. These conversations opened up new avenues for future collaborations, bridging the gap between industrial research and environmental sustainability efforts. GreenMED engaged with thought leaders in both the research and industrial sectors, reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovation for a greener future.
