Participation in the Regional Forum for Blue Skills

The GreenMED project participated in the Regional Forum for Blue Skills on December 1st, 2023, at the Ayia Napa Marina Event Centre in Cyprus, an event organized by the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute, the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus, and the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes. During the forum, GreenMED had the opportunity to present its goals and objectives, highlighting its focus on advancing decarbonisation in the Mediterranean shipping industry. The event featured discussions on the pressing issues and challenges faced by the blue economy, particularly in sourcing skilled professionals capable of addressing the interdisciplinary demands of decarbonisation. Speeches and presentations from notable participants, including Lloyd’s Register Foundation, the World Maritime University, and the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA), emphasized the importance of collaboration and education in overcoming these challenges. GreenMED’s involvement underscored its commitment to fostering stakeholder engagement and addressing the skills gap critical for the region’s transition to a more sustainable maritime future.
