A significant milestone has been reached for the GreenMED project through the successfully completion of its 2nd Workshop, in Larnaca, Cyprus. The event brought together key stakeholders from across the Mediterranean Sea basin to explore pathways for the decarbonisation of the ship activity in the region. The workshop focused on critical themes including sustainable fuel supply chains, technological innovation, infrastructure planning, and the mapping of energy demand.
Most importantly, the workshop focused on the establishment of the Mediterranean Sustainable Shipping Observatory, the MSSO, presenting its ambition while gathering feedback on the possible features of the MSSO platform and its intended functionalities.
Participants engaged in productive discussions, in a common vision for the MSSO, and emphasised the importance of collaboration between industry, academia, and policymakers. The significant feedback gathered will steer the next and final phase of the project and will support the development of effective, region-specific decarbonisation strategies.
